On July 24th We will see a film that I’ve been hearing very good things from; «The Vatican Tapes» and although it touches on the exorcism and possessions sub-genre.. Surprise! It’s not a «Found Footage» movie!….

With that title I was very tempted to make some jokes about priests and altar boys…But they had me as soon as they said «NOT Found Footage», I just hope the filmmakers decide to keep the «Drunken Camera» shots to a minimum.

From the Official Press release: THE VATICAN TAPES follows the ultimate battle between good and evil- God versus Satan. Angela Holmes is ordinary 27-year- old until she begins to have a devastating effect on anyone close, causing serious injury and death. Holmes is examined and possession is suspected, but when the Vatican is called upon to exorcise the demon, the possession proves to be an ancient satanic force more powerful than ever imagined. It’s all up to Father Lozano (MICHAEL PEÑA) to wage war for more than just Angela’s soul, but for the world as we know it.

The film is directed by Mark Neveldine (Who made the two «Crank» movies, the second «Ghost Rider» film and «Gamer») and the cast will include Michael Peña, Kathleen Robertson, and Djimon Hounsou.

I’m not going to lie to you, I think the trailer looks great, Here is hoping they didn’t show all the good parts of better yet, THE FINAL SHOT.
