Who are we?

cropped-DA-2017-Ico.pngWho are we?? And more importantly: What does “Desde Abajo” Mean??
“Desde Abajo” (pronounced “Des-Deh Ah-Bah-Ho”) can be roughly translated from Spanish as “From the bottom” or “From below” and we use that term as a play on words in several instances thru the podcast.
Since we started as a horror film-related podcast back in 2009, we used the term “Desde Abajo” (From Below) as the place where our worst nightmares and fears come from; The deepest and lowest parts of our conscience and soul (and from below the apparently calm surface we show every day).

As we love to support indie films and productions, we also use the term “Desde Abajo” (From The Bottom) as a slogan between ourselves on the podcast (and our listeners) that states that in our quest for success, no matter how far we get, or how high we rise, we must never forget our origins, in other words that we (and most of the people we admire) started from the bottom.

Even though we started as a podcast where we talked to the Spanish-Speaking community about Horror films both old and new, we soon began mixing it with other genres such as Sci-fi and Fantasy, while dabbling in other media like comics, novels, tv series, anime, manga, theater and more.

And now, since we love conventions and started to being accepted as “Press” we decided to expand our content to the English-Speaking community too.. So we apologize for the inconvenience, ha-ha…

(Seriously though, please forgive the occasional grammatical errors… Or in many cases, grammatical HORRORS)

Well. There you have it, that’s us, thank you for coming by, and we hope you like our content, Have an awesome bloody week!

  1. Hello,

I’m Vivian Tong, the publicist for the new movie Nothing Sacred, writing to interest you in taking the time to watch our film. Nothing Sacred is a horror/fantasy movie that proves you can make a sweeping, globe-trotting epic on a micro-indie budget. An international co-production, it was filmed in Paris, Brussels, a castle in the Belgian mountains, New York City, and a Native American reservation in Oklahoma, and contains sequences in three languages, including the Creek Indian language, Mvskoke. It also features a cast of beloved actors from both sides of the Atlantic, including the inimitable William Sadler (Iron Man 3, Shawshank Redemption, Die Hard 2), French superstar Thierry Lhermitte (The Dinner Game, Little Indian, Big City), B-movie queen Debbie Rochon (Skeleton Key, Nowhere Man), and the haunting Philippe Nahon (High Tension, Irreversible).

Nothing Sacred is an ambitious leap into a dark underground of cults, sorcery, titillating rituals, and a timeless blood feud. I hope you’ll check out the trailer at https://vimeo.com/132843542 and let me know if you would like access to an HD link to watch the movie online. If you are interesting in setting up an interview with Nothing Sacred’s co-directors, Dylan Bank and Morgan Pehme, the filmmakers behind the 2009 IFC Films release Nightmare, feel free to reach out to me with your request. Dylan is on a recent roll, coming out last year with the movie Scavenger Killers (starring Robert Loggia and Eric Roberts) and earlier this year with the film Bleeding Hearts (starring Charles Durning, Tony Todd and Dustin Diamond).

Both filmmakers Dylan and Morgan would also be very interested in interviews and appearing as guests on podcasts. Perhaps something can be set up?

Thank you for your time and attention. I hope you enjoy Nothing Sacred. Again, the link to the trailer is:

    All the best,
    Vivian
