Like any other fan of horror, I can enjoy a good story told in the Body horror sub-genre, and I was glad to see that “Replace”, the new film that we watched via the Fantasia Film Festival, not only has the right amount of gore and blood for the peeps, but also brings a very interesting thriller for the general public.
In this film we meet Kira, a lady that after a romantic date starts to experience blackouts, amnesia and disorientation, and while we could say “Hey, that’s what happens when you fall in love!” that would not explain why her skin is deteriorating at an accelerated rate, to the point that is actually breaking and falling apart.
En este nuevo episodio ranteroso, hablamos de como los juegos de mesa vintage son perjudiciales para la salud en “Beyond The Gates”, en el nuevo manga de Junji Ito “Dissolving Classroom” vemos como el andar pidiendo disculpas puede ser peor que una mentada de madre, y terminamos con una historia de drama familiar en pleno brote de infección zombie que sirve como precuela a una de las mejores peliculas de zombies reciente con “Seoul Station”. Basada muy ligeramente en un relato de H.P. Lovecraft (dicen) y dirigida por uno de nuestros directores favoritos Stuart Gordon (Reanimator, From Beyond), esta noche hablaremos de “Castle Freak” que nos trae la historia de un cuate que heredó un castillo italiano con todo y muebles, incluyendo un siniestro huésped en el sótano hambriento de sangre y tripas.
Trying to get home with no other means available, Jack finds himself hitchhiking on the French countryside. Not being fluent on what is known as «The Language Of Love” the English tourist meets Véronique, a local girl with plans to travel the world, and with almost the same bad luck as Jack doing it. Time passes and the couple is still stuck on the same spot, which makes the girl wonder if the reason that the cars are not stopping is because that stretch of the road is rumored to be the hunting grounds of a serial killer.
After spending a night on the woods and more unsuccessful attempts to get a ride, Jack climbs aboard the car of the only person that stops, despite the protests of Véronique. Some miles later on the road, claiming that the ferry that travels from France To England already closed for the day, Grizard, the kind (but clearly kind of weird) driver invites the couple to spend the night at his house in company of his wife, promising to take them to the ferry the next morning.
